Sunday was a biiiiiig day at Once Upon A Time--the all-star sister duo of Jacqueline Preiss Weitzman and Robin Preiss Glasser were here to read and sign many of their books! Before all the fancy glitter and superhero capes descended on the store, we had some heavy moving to do to clear enough space for all the fans. But we got it done, and soon the space was filled with fancy ladies in hats and boas, and even a few superheroes!
Robin and Jackie were so much fun, and talked about their books--and what inspired them. Robin definitely was a
Fancy Nancy type when she was a little girl, and she still likes looking fancy!
Jackie shared a secret--that she used to be afraid of lots of things. But, like her character
Superhero Joe, she discovered that she could be brave...even when daring to enter scary places like the basement and confronting the monsters in her closet!
The two together have also written a book called "
You Can't Take a Balloon Into the Metropolitan Museum," and we had plenty of copies on hand for them to sign, too! The signing line went on...and on...and on...
Afterward, the sisters were nice enough to sign some extra copies for us to have in the store, for people who couldn't make it to the event. Then they posed for a picture with the orchestrators of the event, our very own Maureen and Kris!
All in all, a very fun (and fancy (and heroic)) day!
